Sneak peek for S.

The hardest thing about being a photographer is being in the image. we are able to capture wonderful moments for other families but to have the same moments ourselves is hard. Sarah is a member on one photography forum I belong to and when she asked if anyone was interested in doing a session for her, I was more than happy to offer my services.
They are such an adorable mother/son combo. C. is such a little cutie and kept everyone on their toes. R. and H. were with me to be my assistants and except for getting in to the frame did a wonderful job at helping me and Sarah keep C. on target, hence the very top photo :-D.
Thanks Sarah for driving all the way to Greenfield Village, I love that place and hope you like the images. It was wonderful to put a face to a name.

This morning we all we up relatively early so we decided to head to the Michigan State Fair before it got to hot.
R. took the photo. All I asked her was to make sure the ferris well and Chris & I were in the photo. She is learning so fast.

At first, this was just going to be a boring post about what my family did today but then I got to thinking. When I was going through my photos from today, I felt the need to make a disclaimer about how my photos from today were “snapshots” and please do not think by any means are they my best work. So anyway, here is where my thinking comes in…
I don’t care that this isn’t my best work of photos, these are my kids. Today was not a day about trying to capture a master piece to hang above my mantle or somewhere else on my walls. It was a day about having fun as a family. We spent the day looking at animals, riding dirty carnival rides and eating way to much food no one should ever eat!
Yes, I made sure I had my camera in hand, not for business but to capture those moments. I want to be able to look back at these photos as my girls get older and laugh. I want to remember how a 1000lb
pig almost turned H. and I into bowling pins. (Yes, my heart pounded and I shook at the thought of what could have happened.) Looking back we will all laugh at the funny faces, the medals won, how the girls had NO clue what an elephant ear was and what a wonderful day it was.
The memories will always be in our minds but with the photos they open up so much more. How many times have you looked at a photo and remembered the entire day leading up to that photo. You remember how your parents made you wear a silly outfit, which you hated. Photos make you dig deep into your subconscious to experience the moment all over again. It’s the whole reason we take photos in the first place, to be able to relieve the memories all over again. (the moments are usually more funny the second time around too.
As I end up telling all my clients, get your camera (good or bad) and put it someone where you can see it everyday. Take photos of your everyday life and capture the little moments in your day. Your children not only want to see the the nicely dressed photos but they will want to see what they looked like with food all over. They will fall over laughing at the funny faces they make, what they look like while having a temper tantrum, sleeping. Secretly, we all want to see what we looked like as a child and an adult. So start taking more photos! Call me when you want to be in the photos and have your families unscripted moments captured!
Somedays you just need it.

Do you remember that song? Now it’s going to be stuck in my head all day long, quick someone sing it’s a small world or something. hehe.
Had a long relaxing weekends and went to the dream cruise. I am not a car buff, so I left my camea at home. Chris’ co-worker was having a party so that is where we went and stayed. The closest thing to the dream I got was getting stuck in traffic trying to cross Woodward Ave in Birmingham. What a pain!!! 3 light changes and onle one car moved. Then there was the drive home. For some reason Chris’ decided to get ON Woodward Ave to go south. Yeah, I felt trapped. All I could think of was, one of the really smart cool drivers behind us trying to burn the tires in bumper to bumper traffic. Not to mention I am sure everyone on the road was sober. Can you tell the whole thing just stressed me out.
Hopefully, the rest of this week calms me down. I am taking a break from work for a few days. R. heads off to Kindergarten in a few weeks and I need to take some time to focus on the girls for a while. So because I haven’t picked up my camera in a week, here is a favorite photo from my last session.
